The Conference on Higher Education Computing in Kansas (CHECK) is an annual gathering of information technology professionals in post-secondary institutions in Kansas to present, discuss, and learn about new technologies and current issues in providing IT services to the higher education community. CHECK is sponsored by the Regents Information Technology Council (RITC) and coordinated by the Information Technology and Services Advisory (ITSA) subcommittee. Hosting the event rotates among the member institutions.

Conference attendees should plan to have lunch prior to arriving at the conference on Wednesday, June 7th. A list of restaurants in Hays can be found here: Where to Eat in Hays. Snacks and drinks will be provided throughout the conference on Wednesday. Wednesday evening, a dinner buffet will be provided for all conference attendees at the Golden Q (details below). Thursday morning light breakfast and coffee will be available. Snacks and drinks will be available throughout the sessions on Thursday, followed by a provided lunch buffet.

Sara Bloom, Director of the Downtown Hays Development Center will be providing a tour of Downtown Hays. The tour will showcase many of our unique shopping boutiques in downtown Hays, as well as provide some historical information. The tour will end at the Golden Q, where we will be having our dinner buffet. http://www.downtownhays.com
Meet in front of the Golden Q at 5:30 PMTake a tour of FHSU’s wind turbines. These wind turbines provide energy directly to the FHSU campus, and their combined energy output covers roughly 97% of energy consumption on campus. We’ll take a bus to the wind turbine site, where you’ll get to see the wind turbines up close and learn more about how they work. Then, we’ll come back to campus and take a look at the Aker’s Energy Center, where you’ll get to view the switch gear and learn about how the energy is monitored.
Meet in the Sunset Lounge of the Memorial Union at 1:00 PM (by the registration table). We’ll load the buses and head out to the wind turbine site from there.Wednesday, June 7th
